I think you could start commissions whenever you want

I think it would be better to start early but you have to ask people who do commissions because I don’t do them

I have been told the same thing but I'm just afraid to fail at it. I will ask people anyways, thank you :)

It really does not matter. Ideally you’re better off waiting for more followers but if you post your work and offer commissions, you may be surprised how many people will ask you for them.

You do you case. Theres no set rules on when you should open for commission work.

Thank for the advise, I will give it a try at the future because I don't have enough art pieces to show examples of my work

@NAUUU no, but you do have really good quality in your work so I wouldn’t sell yourself short for that reason.

I look forward to your future pieces.

honestly, your art is actually really good! so i think its safe to assume that some people would buy a comm from the get-go, ya know?

i actually love ur art btw lol

Thank you!

make sure u have discord and ur in a server for commission
that should help.

You'll be fine. Social media is just another tool, you don't "need" a following to open commissions. I don't have much of a following besides my friends for the most part, but I'm able to get commissions. Its mainly marketing and promoting your art, going to seeking art posts thatll help you get some.

Thanks for the advise!

Like others have said, it's fine to keep them open even if you are not "recognized". Worst case, people will not see it.

As an artist that's unpopular to the standards of every platform he's on:

Definitely! Especially if you managed to amass a tight-knit community of people that really like your art. You start doing commissions for the people closest to you, and soon enough clients outside your bubble will take notice of your portfolio and want to commission you, too!

I see, thanks for the advise!!! :D

I'd buy one

quality of work > quantity of attention - i would definitely get one too given how amazing your work is

Ofc, getting discovered or scouted would be better, but still open comissions when you feel like it, you‘ll probably still have people who are interested to buy some art.

I don't think you need to be more known just to open commissions. You might already have people that would like to commission you, only one way to find out.

Just take time to think about your terms, conditions and prices beforehand and write them up for potential clients to read. I think that'll help avoid a lot of uncomfortable situations.

Don't let people talk you down from the prices and conditions you have set. If they cannot agree, you cannot take their commission and that is okay. Make sure you're comfortable with what you draw for people.

Best of luck.

Late to comment sorry but commission’s are a good idea. People might be sus and ask for Nsfw art of your oc or something wholesome. But as long as it puts bread on the table I think you will do just fine. I want to see more art in the future.
